Genshin Impact Google Play: What to Know First
1 min read
It is free to install, but the account behind it matters more than the storefront. Here is what actually carries over between devices.
Genshin Impact Google Play is simply the Android storefront for the game — free to install, with in-app purchases handled through Genesis Crystals rather than a subscription.
What matters more than the store
Your progress is tied to a miHoYo/HoYoverse account, not to Google Play itself. That account, not the app store, is what carries your character roster, wishes and progress if you move between an Android phone, iOS, PC or a console version.
Before you install
- Sign in with (or create) your HoYoverse account first, rather than starting a fresh guest profile — a guest account cannot be reliably migrated later.
- Check the storage warning the Play listing gives you; Genshin downloads most of its data after the initial install, not before.
- In-app purchases go through Google's billing system, so refund and payment disputes follow Google Play's policies, not HoYoverse's directly.
The one mistake worth avoiding
Do not create a second account by mistake on a new device. If in doubt, log in with an existing account before doing anything else — merging separate progress later is not something HoYoverse offers.
