Dota 2 Hero List: All 127 Heroes and Where to Start

The Dota 2 hero list stands at 127 heroes, and every one of them is free from the moment you install. There is no unlock currency and no weekly rotation — the whole roster is playable in your first game.

The attribute split

• Strength — 36 heroes. Health and bulk.
• Agility — 35. Attack speed and armour, most of the traditional carries.
• Intelligence — 34. Mana pool and spell damage.
• Universal — 22. Gains from all three attributes at a reduced rate.

A hero's primary attribute decides which stat converts into their damage, which is the fastest way to read an unfamiliar pick.

The newest addition

Largo arrived with patch 7.40 in December 2025 — a melee strength support built around pulling enemies out of position and disrupting fights.

What changed in 2026

Patch 7.41, in March 2026, removed Facets completely. Every hero is back to one fixed kit, with the old draft-time variants folded into base abilities and reworked innates. Guides written before that patch describe choices that no longer exist.

Ignore the full list. The client rates each hero for complexity — take a couple of the simplest and learn them properly first.
