The official option

Rockstar Games runs an official Discord that covers its full catalogue, GTA Online included, and it is where patch announcements and community event details land first. As a place to actually find a squad at short notice, its size cuts both ways — plenty of people online, but no guarantee anyone is doing what you want right now.

Community servers

Independent, player-run servers exist specifically to organise crews, share Cayo Perico setups, and fill out heist lobbies — search for "GTA Online LFG" style servers and check member count and activity before committing, since quality varies a lot between them.

Getting a lobby filled fast

Post platform, region and what you actually want to run — "PC, EU, Cayo Perico, mic needed" gets answers; "LFG" on its own gets ignored.

What to avoid

Any server advertising paid carries, modded money drops or account sales. Those are bannable on the Rockstar side and a common scam vector on top of that.
