The game runs on hardware from several years ago — here is the official minimum and recommended spec, and why storage keeps growing.

Overwatch 2 system requirements are modest by current standards — the game is built to run on hardware from several years ago, not to push a new GPU.

Minimum

  • OS — Windows 10, 64-bit
  • Processor — Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650
  • Memory — 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics — NVIDIA GeForce GTX 600 series or AMD Radeon HD 7000 series
  • Storage — 50 GB

Recommended

  • OS — Windows 10, 64-bit
  • Processor — Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5
  • Memory — 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics — NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060/1650, AMD R9 380/RX 6400, or Intel Arc A770
  • Storage — 50 GB

Both tiers need DirectX 11 and a broadband connection — there's no offline mode.

Why storage is a moving target

50 GB is the install-time figure. The client has grown since its October 2022 launch as new maps, heroes and skins ship every season, so actual usage now is usually higher — Battle.net's download screen shows the current figure first.

Meeting minimum vs enjoying it

Hitting the minimum spec gets the game running, not running well. Competitive players especially want frame rate closer to the recommended tier — aim is a lot harder at 30fps than 60.
