Why people think otherwise

Because it was, once. RDR2 joined Xbox Game Pass for Console on 7 May 2020 and left again in early September 2020 — roughly four months. Third-party titles on the service run on timed licensing deals, and that one expired. Old articles announcing the addition still rank well, which is most of the confusion.

What that means practically

• Not on console Game Pass, PC Game Pass or cloud as of August 2026.
• No announcement from Rockstar or Take-Two about a return.
• GTA+ does include a rotating library of Rockstar games — but the entry there is the original Red Dead Redemption, not RDR2.

Cheaper than waiting
