Red Dead Redemption 2 System Requirements: Minimum and Recommended
1 min read
The PC port is not light. A 2013-era CPU and a GTX 770 will run it, but a comfortable experience wants hardware from several years later than that.
Red Dead Redemption 2 system requirements, as listed on the game's PC store page, split into a minimum tier that only just gets it running and a recommended tier that actually matches how demanding the game looks.
Minimum
- OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-6300
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB or AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB
- Storage: 150 GB available space
Recommended
- OS: Windows 10, 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X
- RAM: 12 GB
- GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
- Storage: 150 GB available space
The storage number is not a typo
Both tiers list 150 GB. This is one of the larger installs of its console generation, and it is worth checking free space on your drive before the download even starts — a partial download that runs out of room is a slow way to find out.
Reading the two tiers correctly
Minimum gets the game booting, not looking good. Treat the recommended column as the real baseline if you want settings above Low without constant frame drops in busier towns like Saint Denis.
