GTA 5 Ending: All Three Options Explained
1 min read
The last mission gives Franklin three choices, and two of them end the friendship permanently. Here is what each one actually does.
The GTA 5 ending is not fixed — the final mission hands Franklin a choice between three outcomes, and the game does not steer you toward any of them.
Ending A: Kill Trevor
Franklin sides with Michael and kills Trevor. Michael keeps his relationship with Franklin; anything tied to Trevor's story closes off for good.
Ending B: Kill Michael
The reverse — Franklin sides with Trevor. Michael dies, and everything built around him ends with the mission.
Ending C: Deathwish
The option the game quietly favours. Rather than turning on either man, Franklin, Michael and Trevor team up with Lamar and Lester to fight off the FIB and Merryweather, then hunt down Devin Weston, Steve Haines, Stretch and Wei Cheng. All three protagonists survive and stay friends.
Which to pick
Deathwish is the longest and the only one that keeps every character-specific activity available afterward, which is why most completionist guides point you toward it. The other two are shorter, and worth seeing once the achievements are already banked.
