GTA 5 Franklin Voice Actor: Who Plays Him

Franklin is played by Shawn Fonteno, who did far more than read lines — and whose family connection to an earlier GTA is a genuine coincidence.

The GTA 5 Franklin voice actor is Shawn Fonteno, often credited as Solo.

Not just a voice

Rockstar's leads are performance-capture roles, not booth work. Fonteno acted the part on a capture stage — body, face and voice together — which is why Franklin's body language reads as one consistent person rather than an animator's guess over someone else's audio.

The San Andreas connection

Fonteno is a cousin of Christopher Bellard, better known as Young Maylay, who voiced CJ in GTA: San Andreas. Two GTA protagonists from the same family is a coincidence rather than a casting plan — Fonteno auditioned on his own.
