GTA Online Invite Only Session: How to Start One

An invite-only session locks your GTA Online world down to people you actually choose. Here is how to start one and what still needs a public lobby.
A GTA Online invite only session locks your game world down to people you actually choose — the single most useful setting for anyone tired of getting killed mid-sale.
How to start one
- Open the pause menu.
- Go to Online.
- Select Play GTA Online and choose Invite Only Session, or switch session type from an existing session via the same menu.
Who can join
Only players you or someone already in the session directly invites — through the friends list, crew invite, or a direct phone invite. Random players from public matchmaking cannot enter.
Why it matters for business
Most CEO, MC and Nightclub work runs exactly the same in an invite-only session as it does in public — the difference is nobody outside your group can grief a sale or blow up your cargo mid-run. Certain heists and specific missions do require Public or Solo Public sessions instead, so check before assuming invite-only works for everything.
The trade-off
No random players also means fewer chance freemode encounters generally. For grinding a business safely, that trade is usually worth it.
