The Witcher 3 Alternate Appearances: Every Outfit Explained
1 min read
Some alternate looks are free DLC unlocked by picking up a hidden Gwent card, and the next-gen update added a whole set inspired by the Netflix show.
The Witcher 3 alternate appearances are cosmetic-only — none of them change stats — and they come from two very different sources.
The launch-era outfits
A handful of free DLC outfits for Yennefer, Triss and Ciri were unlocked not through a menu, but by finding a specific Gwent card hidden somewhere in the world. Picking up that card is what quietly switches the character's default look for every following cutscene.
The next-gen additions
The December 2022 next-gen update added a fresh set of outfits inspired by Netflix's live-action series, alongside a short quest built around them. These are free for anyone who owns the PS5, Xbox Series X|S or PC next-gen version — no separate purchase involved.
How to change looks
Once unlocked, alternate looks are swapped from the inventory screen rather than a separate wardrobe menu — select the item and choose the appearance you want to display over your equipped gear's stats.
Worth grabbing
They cost nothing beyond finding them, so there is no real downside to picking every one up on a completionist run.
