The Witcher 3 Console Mods: What PS5 and Xbox Support
1 min read
Console modding exists, but only on next-gen hardware and only through a curated in-game menu — not full Nexus-style modding.
The Witcher 3 console mods are real, but they are a much narrower version of what PC players get, and they only exist because of the next-gen update.
Which consoles
Official mod support arrived with the December 2022 next-gen update, and it is limited to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The original PS4 and Xbox One versions, and the Nintendo Switch release, do not support mods at all.
How it works
Mods are browsed and toggled from an in-game menu rather than installed manually. The selection is curated — you are choosing from a list CD Projekt Red has approved and made compatible with the console build, not downloading arbitrary files.
What you will not find here
Full overhaul mods, script-heavy gameplay changes and the deepest of the PC scene's work generally are not available this way — those still need a PC and tools like Script Merger to manage manually.
The practical upshot
If you want cosmetic tweaks, quality-of-life fixes or texture packs on a console, next-gen hardware is required. Everything else still means playing on PC.
