Baldur's Gate 3 Isobel: Who She Is and What She Guards
2 min read
A cleric keeping an entire inn safe from a curse with one spell, and hiding a century-old secret about who she loves.
Baldurs Gate 3 Isobel is a half-elf cleric of Selûne, and the person keeping an entire refuge alive in the middle of the Shadow-Cursed Lands.
Who she is
She was brought back from a century of death by her father, Ketheric Thorm — resurrected without being told how much time had actually passed.
What she does
Isobel maintains a protective moon shield over the Last Light Inn in Act Two using Selûnite magic. Without it, everyone sheltering inside would fall to the Shadow Curse immediately. She is not a side character at the inn — she is the reason the inn exists as a safe stop at all.
The secret
Her past is tangled with Dame Aylin, a celestial being she loves. Ketheric imprisoned Aylin in the Shadowfell specifically because he opposed the relationship — which is also why Isobel fled to the inn in the first place, away from her own father.
Choices that involve her
- Marcus's abduction attempt — a Flaming Fist officer tries to take her; you can defend her or let it happen.
- Dark Urge origin — playing this character means actively resisting an urge to kill her.
- The Nightsong rescue — freeing Aylin reunites the pair; killing Aylin kills Isobel too.
- Aftermath — survive both, and they join as temporary camp companions in Act Three.
Her fate is tied directly to Aylin's, so any choice in the Nightsong questline is also a choice about her.
