Call of Duty Black Ops Android Game: What Actually Exists

There is no mainline Call of Duty Black Ops android game. No numbered entry has ever been ported to phones. But one official Black Ops release did exist on Android, and it is worth knowing what happened to it.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies

Developed by Ideaworks Game Studio and published by Activision, it launched on iOS in select countries on 1 December 2011 and reached Android in August 2012. It was Zombies-only — no campaign, no competitive multiplayer — with a set of maps and co-op play.

Its shutdown ran in stages:

• 25 July 2018 — removed from sale on Android in Europe.
• 13 December 2021 — no longer downloadable at all.
• 14 May 2022 — online functionality discontinued.

So even a purchased copy has no working online component today.

What you can play instead

• Call of Duty Mobile — free, still supported, and carrying a large amount of Black Ops material: Nuketown, Firing Range, Standoff, Hijacked and Summit are all Black Ops-era maps, and Zombies content has appeared in it periodically.
• Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile — a separate battle royale release, distinct from CoD Mobile and running its own content.

On APK downloads

Searches for a Black Ops APK mostly turn up repackaged copies of the delisted 2012 game or outright fakes. Since the original's servers are off, a working APK buys you an offline Zombies game at best, and a malware install at worst. Activision does not distribute Android builds outside the Play Store, so anything hosted elsewhere is not an official release.
