Dota 2 Earthshaker: Abilities and Team Fight Role

One well-placed ultimate can end a fight before it starts. Here's how Earthshaker's stun chains together and what he needs to land it.

Dota 2 Earthshaker is a strength initiator whose whole kit is stun, and whose ultimate can wipe a clustered enemy team in one cast if it lands right.

The kit

  • Fissure — raises a wall of stone in a line, stunning and damaging anyone it hits while also blocking movement across it, which makes it a chase tool and an escape tool as well as a stun.
  • Enchant Totem — empowers his next attack, useful both for damage and for breaking Fissure early to close off an escape route.
  • Aftershock — a passive that adds a stun-and-damage pulse around him whenever he casts a spell, turning every cast into extra crowd control.
  • Echo Slam — his ultimate, dealing damage that scales with how many enemy heroes are caught nearby, capable of one-shotting a bunched-up team.

The combo

Landing Echo Slam on multiple heroes is the entire point of playing him. Fissure to stun and group enemies, or catch them already clustered, then Echo Slam while Aftershock adds even more control on top.

Where he's weak

Everything depends on positioning — his own, and the enemy's. Spread-out opponents or a missed Fissure leaves him with very little, so a bad initiation is a genuinely bad game for Earthshaker.
