Elden Ring Edgar: Castellan of Castle Morne
1 min read
A Banished Knight holding a doomed castle out of duty, long after the man who gave him that duty stopped caring what happened to it.
Elden Ring Edgar is one of the Lands Between's more grounded tragedies — a soldier trying to keep an oath after everyone who mattered to it has either left or died.
His background
Edgar was one of the Banished Knights — soldiers from a defeated army exiled to the fringes of the map. At some point during or after the Shattering, Godrick the Grafted made him Castellan of Castle Morne, charged with guarding the storied sword kept there.
What happened to the castle
The Misbegotten serving the castle rebelled, overran it and stole that sword. Most of the castle's people, including Edgar's daughter Irina, fled. Edgar stayed to fight, refusing to abandon the post even after it stopped meaning anything strategically.
How you meet him
He is found on the castle's north-eastern rampart tower during Irina's questline, after she asks you to carry a letter to him. He will not leave until the Leonine Misbegotten holding the castle's sword is dealt with.
Where his story ends
Reunited with the sword, he sets out to meet Irina — and finds her already dead. It is one of the quieter, sadder beats in a game mostly remembered for its bosses.
