Elden Ring Ensha: Who He Is and How the Fight Works
1 min read
A silent NPC who spends most of the game leaning against a wall — until one item in your inventory turns him into an invader.
Elden Ring Ensha is easy to miss entirely, because for most of a playthrough he just stands outside Gideon Ofnir's study in Roundtable Hold, saying nothing.
Who he is
Ensha is Gideon Ofnir's silent attendant, wearing armour marked with golden bones — a nod to a soulless king of the same name, said to have once claimed lordship over the Lands Between. He communicates only through gestures, never dialogue.
What triggers the fight
Collecting one half of the Haligtree Secret Medallion is the trigger. The next time you rest and return to Roundtable Hold, Ensha ambushes you on sight, turning hostile without warning — a genuine jump for anyone not expecting an NPC to attack.
The reward
Beating him drops the Clinging Bone and unlocks the Royal Remains armour set, which you collect by returning to the spot where he used to stand.
Why it catches people out
Nothing in the game flags the trigger in advance. Players who grab the medallion half and go straight back to Roundtable Hold without warning are the ones most surprised by the fight.
