Elden Ring Isolated Divine Tower: How to Get There

The Elden Ring Isolated Divine Tower is where you restore Malenia's Great Rune. It stands apart from the rest of the map, hence the name, and there is no road to it. You get there by waygate from the Divine Bridge in Leyndell, Royal Capital, and its doors stay shut until you have defeated Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

Why it is locked

Every Divine Tower is tied to a demigod's Great Rune, and each tower's doors only open once that shardbearer is dead. For the Isolated Divine Tower that is Malenia, fought at the bottom of Miquella's Haligtree.

In practice this makes it one of the last Divine Towers most players visit: Malenia is optional, well hidden and one of the hardest bosses in the game.

How to get there

From the Divine Bridge (the usual route)

1. Reach Leyndell, Royal Capital.
2. Make your way to the Divine Bridge, the long bridge that runs out from the capital.
3. Use the waygate on the bridge. It teleports you to the Isolated Divine Tower.

If you cannot find the bridge, look for the Divine Bridge Site of Grace in Leyndell; the waygate is on the bridge itself.

After the story moves on

Later in the game, when Leyndell becomes the Ashen Capital after Maliketh, the route changes. You can reach the tower through the Tower of Return in the Weeping Peninsula: go in through the main hall of the Fortified Manor, take the closed door and ride the elevator.

What you do there

Climb the tower to the top and activate Malenia's Great Rune. As with other Great Runes, you then need a Rune Arc to use it: equip the Great Rune at a Site of Grace and consume a Rune Arc to activate its effect until you die.

There is no boss and very little resistance. The value is the Great Rune itself and the view: this is one of the few places where Crumbling Farum Azula can be seen from a distance.

Is Malenia's Great Rune worth it?

Malenia's Great Rune rewards aggressive play: when you take damage, attacking back quickly recovers some of the HP you just lost. It suits players who trade hits rather than retreat, and pairs well with fast weapons.

Common problems

• "The door will not open." You have not defeated Malenia yet.
• "I cannot find the waygate." It is on the Divine Bridge, not in the main city streets.
• "Leyndell is covered in ash." Use the Tower of Return route through the Weeping Peninsula instead.
