There is no separate League of Legends download EUW file — the installer is identical worldwide. What "EUW" actually refers to is the server region, not a different build of the game.

What EUW means

Europe West is one of League's regional servers, alongside NA, EUNE, KR and others. It determines which physical servers your matches run on and which player pool you are matched against — nothing about the client itself changes.

When you actually choose it

Region is set when you create your Riot account, not at download time. The Riot Client installs the same way regardless, and your account is then tied to whichever server you picked during signup.

Can you switch later?

Moving an existing account to a different region is not a settings toggle — it is handled through Riot Support as a formal region transfer. If setting up fresh, picking the server closest to you matters more than the download itself.

The practical advice

If you are in Western Europe, EUW is usually the lower-ping choice over EUNE — but check your own ping to each server rather than assuming.
