The install size depends on your region, language and how current your client is. Here is what actually moves it, and where to see the real figure.

There is no single League of Legends download size Riot publishes, because the real number depends on choices made during install, not just the base client.

What changes it

  • Region and language. Voice-over and localised assets for your selected server add to the install; an EUW account is not the same size as one on a client set to a different language.
  • How current your client is. Over fifteen years of champions, skins and VO have grown the game considerably since 2009, and every new champion or event adds more.
  • Updates versus fresh installs. The initial download and the patch-to-patch deltas afterward are very different sizes — patches only pull what changed.

Where to get the real number

The Riot Client shows the actual download size for your account and region before you confirm the install, and that is the only figure worth trusting — anything else is either outdated or measuring a different setup entirely.

Practical takeaway

Budget disk space generously rather than aiming for a specific figure: a modern install plus a season or two of updates comfortably clears what an answer from a few years ago would tell you.
