Who the PUBG Developer Is Today

The team building the game now sits inside a much larger company than the one that shipped it in 2017, spread across four countries.

The PUBG developer of record today is PUBG Studios, the internal Krafton team that absorbed the old PUBG Corporation at the end of 2020. Krafton, the publicly listed parent company, is the publisher.

Where the team is based

PUBG Studios is not a single office. It maintains development locations in Seoul, Madison in Wisconsin, Amsterdam, and Japan, with different sites contributing to different parts of the live game rather than one team owning everything.

What "live-service developer" means in practice

PUBG runs on a constant patch cadence: weekly maintenance windows for routine server work, and numbered content updates layered on top — the build live as of mid-August 2026 sits at update 42.3. That numbering has been running since launch and climbs with every major patch, which is why version numbers in older guides age out quickly.

Krafton's wider studio list

PUBG Studios is one of several teams under Krafton, alongside Striking Distance Studios, Bluehole Studio and Unknown Worlds Entertainment among others — PUBG is the company's flagship, but not its only project.

Why the name confusion persists

Store listings, achievements and years of press coverage still credit "PUBG Corporation." That company was merged away in 2020, but the label stuck around far longer than the org chart it described.
