Cirilla is the reason the entire plot moves. Here is her background, her Elder Blood power, and how much control you get over her fate.

The Witcher 3 Ciri, full name Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon, is the person the entire game is built around finding — not a companion you recruit, but the reason Geralt is travelling at all.

Who she is

Princess of Cintra by birth, raised as a witcher-in-training at Kaer Morhen after Geralt takes her in. She carries Elder Blood, a bloodline that grants her the ability to move between places, and sometimes worlds, at will — which is exactly why the Wild Hunt and Nilfgaard both want her.

Her connection to Geralt

She calls him her father in every way that matters, even though nothing binds them by blood. The strength of that relationship, built through years before the game starts, is why finding her drives the whole story rather than being one quest among many.

You play as her too

Several chapters put you directly in control of Ciri, playing out memories and events from her side rather than Geralt's.

Her fate is not fixed

How the story ends for Ciri depends on choices made across the entire game, not just a single prompt near the credits. Treat her seriously in conversation and support her rather than dismiss her, and the ending reflects it.
