The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition: What It Includes

One purchase, everything CD Projekt Red made for the base game. Here is exactly what is in the box and how it differs from buying separately.

The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition, released 30 August 2016, exists for one reason: to stop new players from having to buy the base game and both expansions separately.

What is in it

  • The base game.
  • Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, the two story expansions.
  • All of the smaller free DLC released alongside launch — extra Gwent cards, alternate outfits and similar cosmetic add-ons.

Is it still the version to buy

Functionally, yes. Every copy sold today, on any platform, ships with this content as standard rather than as an optional add-on. On PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC specifically, the underlying build has also been upgraded by the free next-gen update — improved visuals and performance layered on top of the same Game of the Year content.

The one thing it does not include

The newly announced third expansion, Songs of the Past, is a separate future release rather than something retroactively added to existing copies.

Where to get it

It is the standard listing on Steam, GOG, PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store — there is no separate "base game only" version being sold any more.
