A launch-day Legend built entirely around holding ground. Here is what his shield and bombardment abilities do and when to actually use them.

Apex Legends Gibraltar has been playable since the game's launch in February 2019, and his job has not changed since: hold a position and make it survivable.

Class

Gibraltar is a Support Legend, one of five class styles Respawn assigned to every character starting in Season 16.

What the kit does

Tactical — a deployable dome that blocks incoming fire from outside it, giving a squad a safe pocket to revive, heal or reset a fight in.
Ultimate — an orbital bombardment called down on a marked area, useful for forcing a team off a position they are holding.

Both abilities are area effects rather than single-target tools, which is the throughline of his kit: he changes what a piece of ground is worth, not who wins a duel on it.

When he is good

Defending a building, covering a knockdown, or breaking a stalemate where neither team wants to push first. He is weaker in fights that are already moving fast, since a dome you cannot reach does nothing for you.

Kits do change
