Apex Legends Icon: What People Actually Mean

Searches for this split into two very different questions — and the game does not actually have the cosmetic system most people assume it does.

Apex Legends icon searches split into two very different questions, and it's worth knowing which one you're actually asking before you go looking for an answer.

If you mean a cosmetic system

Some battle royales let you equip a small "icon" next to your name to show off achievements. Apex doesn't have one. What it has instead:

  • Badges — small in-game achievements shown on your banner.
  • Banner Frames — the border around your player card, including rank rewards at Diamond and above.
  • Stat Trackers — three slots on your banner showing live stats like kills or damage.

If a guide promises an "Apex icon" you can unlock, it's almost certainly describing one of these under a different name.

If you mean the app icon

That's the artwork shown in your Steam library, EA app, Epic Games Store or console dashboard. It updates with major branding refreshes rather than every season, and platforms sometimes serve slightly different artwork for the same game. If your shortcut icon has gone missing or reverted to a generic blank, it's usually a corrupted shortcut rather than anything wrong with your install — recreating the shortcut, not reinstalling the game, fixes it.
