Apex Legends Mobile Download: Why It No Longer Works

There is nothing to download. The standalone mobile spin-off was shut down over three years ago, and it has not been relaunched since.

If you are looking for an Apex Legends Mobile download, stop looking — the app is gone. Respawn and its mobile partner shut the standalone game down on 1 May 2023, and it was pulled from both the App Store and Google Play at that point.

What it was

Apex Legends Mobile launched globally on 17 May 2022, built by Tencent's Lightspeed and Quantum Studios rather than Respawn itself, and ran on Unreal Engine 4 rather than the Source-engine build the PC and console game uses. It was a separate game with its own roster and progression, not a port.

Why it closed

Respawn announced the shutdown less than a year after launch, citing an inability to deliver the experience they wanted for players. No replacement mobile version has been announced since, so there is nothing current to search for.

What actually works on a phone today

  • Cloud streaming. Services like GeForce Now can stream the PC version to a phone, which plays the real game rather than a mobile build.
  • Nothing native. There is no official Apex Legends app for iOS or Android beyond that.

About the app you might still see listed

Old store listings, screenshots and APK files circulating online are leftovers from a closed service. Installing an unofficial APK claiming to be Apex Legends Mobile is a security risk, not a way back into the game.
