Elden Ring Irina Quest: Full Walkthrough with Edgar

The Elden Ring Irina quest is one of the first proper questlines most players stumble into. It starts with a blind woman asking you to carry a letter to her father, Castellan Edgar of Castle Morne, and it ends one region later with Edgar invading you in Liurnia. The whole thing takes about an hour of play, spread across two areas.

Step 1: meet Irina

Cross the Bridge of Sacrifice into the Weeping Peninsula. Irina sits just beyond it: a blind woman with a ribbon over her eyes and a bloodstained dress. Talk to her and she gives you Irina's Letter, addressed to her father.

Step 2: deliver the letter to Edgar

Edgar is at Castle Morne, at the southern tip of the peninsula. Fight through the castle to the tower where he stands and show him the letter.

He explains that he cannot leave: the Misbegotten have stolen the castle's sword, and his duty is to hold the castle until it is recovered. This conversation also makes him available as a summon for the boss fight.

Step 3: defeat the Leonine Misbegotten

The boss holds the castle's sword. It is a fast, aggressive beast that leaps and slashes in long combos.

• Summon Edgar at his sign before the fog wall. He draws attention and gives you openings.
• Watch for the leaps. It closes distance fast; dodge through the attack rather than backing away, then punish the landing.

Victory gives you the Grafted Blade Greatsword.

Step 4: return to Edgar, then to Irina

1. Go back to Edgar at Castle Morne and exhaust his dialogue.
2. Return to where Irina was sitting near the Bridge of Sacrifice.
3. You find Irina dead and Edgar standing over her body. Exhaust his dialogue again.

There is no way to save her. Her death is written into the quest regardless of how quickly you complete it.

Step 5: Edgar the Revenger

Grief turns Edgar into Edgar the Revenger. Travel to the Revenger's Shack in western Liurnia of the Lakes, reached by heading north from the Minor Erdtree there. When you touch the Site of Grace on your first visit, he invades.

He fights with a halberd, and it is a straightforward duel: dodge his thrusts and punish the recovery.

Edgar: who he is

Edgar was one of the Banished Knights. As Castellan of Castle Morne under Godrick's rule, he was charged with guarding the sword kept there. When the Misbegotten rebelled and took it, most of the castle's people fled, including his daughter Irina. Edgar stayed, holding the post out of duty long after it had stopped mattering to anyone else.

Irina's letter was her attempt to bring him home. The quest's tragedy is that he goes to her only once his duty is done, and by then it is too late.

Things to know

• Talking to Edgar before the boss is what unlocks his summon. Deliver the letter first.
• The Shabriri Grape is a reminder that Edgar's grief made him receptive to a darker influence. It is also an item another questline asks you for.
• Edgar dying early does not stop the quest. If he falls before you visit Irina, the story still moves on in much the same way.
