Elden Ring Nightreign Guardian: Skills and Tips

The squad's frontline tank — built to soak hits, control crowds, and pull teammates back from the edge of death.

The Elden Ring Nightreign Guardian is the closest thing the roster has to a dedicated tank, built around a shield and crowd control rather than raw damage.

Steel Guard

His passive plants his feet when he blocks with a shield equipped, cutting the stamina cost of guarding and reducing how far he gets pushed back. It turns ordinary blocking into something you can hold through a combo rather than a one-hit panic button.

Whirlwind

His character skill beats his wings to create a cyclone around him, knocking enemies up and briefly grounding them on landing, cancelling light projectiles as it goes, and dealing damage to everything caught in range. It doubles as an escape tool and a group-control button.

Wings of Salvation

His ultimate art is a leap that creates a protective zone on landing, raising the defence of anyone standing in it and reviving downed teammates caught inside. Saving it for a squad wipe rather than using it early is almost always the right call.

How to play him

Stand between the boss and your squishier teammates, hold guard rather than dodging everything, and time Whirlwind for when multiple enemies close in at once rather than a single target.
