Where to Buy GTA 5 for PC
1 min read
Three storefronts sell it, and the game itself is identical on all of them. What actually differs is launcher, cross-save and price.
A GTA 5 buy for PC decision comes down to three legitimate storefronts, and the game underneath is the same regardless of which one you pick.
The three storefronts
- Steam — the most common choice, integrated with Steam achievements and the Steam friends list.
- Epic Games Store — Epic's own launcher; GTA V has been sold here since 2020.
- Rockstar Games Launcher — buying direct from Rockstar, which is also where your Social Club account and GTA Online progress actually live either way.
What is not different
Whichever storefront you buy from, launching the game hands off to your Rockstar Games Launcher account for GTA Online. Your online progress is tied to Social Club, not to Steam or Epic.
The Enhanced update
Every PC copy — regardless of storefront — received the "Expanded & Enhanced" visual and performance upgrade as a free update on 4 March 2025. You do not need to buy a separate edition to get it.
Practical advice
Buy wherever you already have an account and a payment method saved. There is no price or content advantage to picking one storefront over another.
