Rocket League APK Download: Why There Isn't One

No Android build of Rocket League has ever existed, so every APK claiming to be it is something else. Here is what those files really are.

There is no Rocket League APK download, because there is no Android version of Rocket League. Psyonix has never shipped the full game on phones — not on Android, not on iOS.

So what are those files?

Sites offering one are distributing something, and it falls into three groups:

  • A different game entirely, renamed and given Rocket League artwork.
  • An installer wrapper whose real job is the adware or subscription it drags in behind the "game".
  • Malware aimed at the accounts on your phone — banking apps included.

None of them are Rocket League, because a phone build does not exist to repackage.

Why the game cannot simply be ported

Rocket League is a physics-driven game running at high tick rates against a shared online population. Touch controls are the smaller half of the problem; the larger half is that a mobile build would either split the player base or drop into lobbies it cannot compete in.

Psyonix's own answer to this was to build a different game rather than shrink this one — see Rocket League Sideswipe, a free 2D spin-off on both app stores.

The rule that keeps you safe

Android games come from Google Play, the Galaxy Store or a developer's own site. Rocket League appears on none of them, and no amount of searching changes that.
