Rocket League Bracket Rivalry: EU vs NA at Worlds

No single matchup owns the phrase — it describes how RLCS brackets are built, and the regional rivalry that keeps defining every World Championship.

Rocket League bracket rivalry is not a named event — it describes two things that overlap: how RLCS builds its brackets, and the regional rivalry those brackets keep producing at the top.

How the bracket works

RLCS Majors and the World Championship use a hybrid format. The 2026 Boston Major ran 16 teams through a group stage into an 8-team elimination playoff bracket. The World Championship adds a layer on top: an 8-team GSL-style play-in, where the top 4 advance into a group stage alongside the 12 teams that auto-qualified.

GSL format sends two teams through per group rather than eliminating on a single loss, so it settles slower than a straight knockout.

The rivalry the format keeps surfacing

Across World Championship history, European teams hold the most titles, with North America the closest challenger behind them. That gap has held up across enough tournaments that EU-versus-NA in the playoff bracket is treated as the marquee storyline of nearly every World Championship.

Where to watch it play out next

The 2026 World Championship runs 15–20 September in Fort Worth, Texas — the next point where that bracket, and that rivalry, gets tested again.
