Cyberpunk 2077 Gangs of Night City Explained
1 min read
Eleven distinct factions, each built around a different district and a different relationship with cyberware.
The Cyberpunk 2077 gangs of Night City are not interchangeable street toughs — each one is built around a district, a philosophy, and a different relationship with cyberware.
The major players
- Maelstrom — Watson's industrial zone, obsessed with cybernetic augmentation as a way past the limits of flesh.
- Valentinos — the largest gang, controlling Latino sections of Heywood, bound by honour and brotherhood.
- Tyger Claws — Japantown, built around katanas, motorcycles and a Japanese-influenced aesthetic.
- Voodoo Boys — Pacifica netrunners chasing secrets buried in the Old Net.
- Animals — West Pacifica brawlers who reject cyberware for raw muscle and supplements instead.
- 6th Street — Vista Del Rey, founded by war veterans enforcing their own version of order.
- Moxes — formed to protect sex workers and the vulnerable from exploitation.
- Aldecaldos and Wraiths — rival nomad families out in the Badlands.
- Scavengers — organ and implant harvesters operating in the city's margins.
- Barghest — Dogtown's militarised operation of soldiers and mercenaries.
Knowing which controls which turf changes how you approach almost any street-level job in the city.
