Elden Ring Nightreign Builds: How to Plan One
1 min read
Builds in Nightreign are assembled inside a single run rather than levelled over weeks, so the planning happens differently to the base game.
Elden Ring Nightreign builds work nothing like a base-game build sheet — you are assembling one from scratch every run, out of whatever relics and weapons that expedition hands you.
Start from the Nightfarer, not the weapon
Every character's kit points at a damage type or mechanic: Executor wants bleed and deflects, Duchess wants repeated status procs from behind, Guardian wants to tank and peel for the squad. Pick relics that reinforce that identity rather than chasing whatever legendary drop looks shiniest.
Relics are the real build slot
Relics carry the passive effects that used to be spread across a whole talisman loadout in the base game. Stacking relics that trigger off the same condition — status application, low HP, deflects — compounds faster than three unrelated bonuses.
Do not ignore the weapon affinity
Elemental affinities matter more here because a run is short: you do not have the levels to brute-force through a bad matchup over a full campaign.
Adapt mid-run
The strongest Nightreign builds bend around what day one and two actually offer, rather than a fixed plan decided before the expedition starts.
