Elden Ring Nightreign Executor: Skills, Build and Remembrance

The Elden Ring Nightreign Executor is the Nightfarer built around deflection. He reads enemy attacks, parries them with a cursed katana and punishes with bleed. Nobody in the roster gets more out of a clean block, and nobody pays more for a missed one. This guide covers his numbers, what each ability really does, the build most players settle on, and both chapters of his Remembrance.

Dexterity and Arcane at S is the whole story of his kit. Dexterity feeds katana damage, and Arcane feeds bleed build-up. Low Mind means a small FP pool, so do not plan around spells or FP-hungry weapon skills.

Passive: Tenacity

Tenacity triggers when the Executor recovers from a status ailment such as blood loss, poison, scarlet rot, frostbite, madness or sleep. For 20 seconds he gets roughly +20% attack power and faster stamina recovery (about +8 per second).

The wording matters. Suffering the ailment does nothing; the boost arrives when it wears off or when you cure it. In practice it rewards aggression after you have been hit by a status, rather than retreating to wait it out.

Character skill: Cursed Sword

Pressing the skill readies a cursed katana. While it is drawn you can deflect: block just before an attack lands and the hit is negated, the enemy takes stance damage, and sparks confirm the timing. The window is noticeably more forgiving than Sekiro's.

Three details decide how well it works:

• Deflects charge the blade. Several successful deflects in a row awaken it, unlocking stronger attacks with the living sword.
• Stamina is not a trap. Running out of stamina during a successful deflect does not guard-break him.
• You cannot run with it drawn. Sheathe it to reposition, then ready it again when the next attack is coming.

Against a single large enemy with readable swings, this is the best defensive tool in the game. Against three enemies attacking out of sync it is much weaker, because you can only answer one attack at a time.

Ultimate art: Aspects of the Crucible: Beast

The Executor transforms into a primordial beast. The transformation fully restores his HP and doubles his maximum HP for its duration, and the roar that starts it damages everything nearby.

In beast form he has his own set of attacks, and each one drains the Ultimate Art gauge. Press the ultimate again to change back early and keep what is left of the gauge. Damage in beast form scales with his level, so it hits harder late in a run than on Day 1.

Treat it as an emergency heal as much as an attack. Popping it at low HP during a Nightlord's burst phase is often worth more than the damage it deals.

Best Executor build

Nightreign has no permanent stat allocation, so an Executor "build" is two things: the weapons you pick up during a run and the relics you equip before it.

Weapons to look for

• Katanas first. His skill is built around a katana and his grades match them. Any katana with a bleed affinity is a strong pickup.
• Bleed on everything. Arcane S makes blood loss his best damage source, and bleed procs keep adding damage while you are busy deflecting.
• Keep a fast off-hand option for crowds, where deflection struggles.

Relic effects worth running

• HP restoration when the character skill is used, which turns every deflect sequence into sustain.
• Dexterity or Arcane increases.
• Effects that trigger on status ailments, to make Tenacity fire more often.
• HP recovery while guarding.

His two Remembrance relics, covered below, carry exactly these effects, which is why most players finish his questline before optimising anything else.

Executor Remembrance quest

Each Nightfarer has a personal questline unlocked through the Journal in the Roundtable Hold. The Executor's has two chapters that reward relics, plus a final fight.

Chapter 2: the Blessed Flowers

1. Read Chapter 2 of the Executor's Journal.
2. Speak to the Guardian in the Roundtable Hold.
3. Exhaust the Priestess's dialogue near the expedition table. This unlocks a personal objective to find flowers in Limveld.
4. Start an expedition as the Executor and head to the red objective marker on the map, in the north-east of Limveld.
5. Clear the hounds there. A Stray Bloodhound Knight appears; defeat it and pick up the Blessed Flowers from the ground.
6. Return and continue the conversation with the Priestess.

Reward: the Blessed Flowers relic, with HP restoration on the character skill and a Dexterity increase.

Chapter 6: the Golden Sprout

1. Read Chapter 6 of the Journal.
2. Speak to the Priestess again to unlock the objective to find a golden sprout.
3. Start an expedition as the Executor and follow the objective marker to an Erdtree Avatar. Defeat it and collect the Golden Sprout.
4. Return to the Priestess. This leads into the Remembrance's final fight against Executor's Cry.

Reward: the Golden Sprout relic, with HP restoration when roaring and HP recovery while guarding. That pairs directly with the beast ultimate and the deflect stance.

Tips that save runs

• Learn one Nightlord's timings before relying on deflects. A deflect you are guessing at is worse than a dodge.
• Ready the sword before the attack, not during it. Drawing it is not instant.
• Pair him with a team that handles crowds. Guardian's shield and a caster's area damage cover exactly what the Executor lacks.
• Save the ultimate for the moment you would otherwise die. A full heal and double HP bar is the strongest defensive button he has.
