Rated at the top of every board, and unusually for a game, the nudity is optional while the violence is not.

The Cyberpunk 2077 age rating sits in the top bracket everywhere it is sold.

The ratings

  • ESRB: M for Mature 17+
  • PEGI: 18
  • USK: 18
  • ACB: R18+

What earns it

The descriptors cover blood and gore, intense violence, strong language, drug use, nudity and strong sexual content. Night City is built around all of it — this is not a rating driven by one unlucky scene.

Two specifics people ask about: the game contains full frontal nudity in character creation and in several scenes, and its violence includes dismemberment as a routine combat outcome.

What you can turn off

More than in most games. Settings include a nudity censor, which covers character-creator and in-world nudity, and there is a toggle for the flashing braindance sequence originally flagged for photosensitivity.

None of this changes the rating — it is assigned to the game as shipped — but it does mean the sexual content is the one part a player can opt out of. The violence and language cannot be reduced.

Phantom Liberty

The expansion carries the same rating. Its story is a spy thriller rather than a street-level one, but the content bracket is unchanged.
