Cyberpunk 2077: How to Upgrade Weapons
1 min read
No workbench required — upgrading happens straight from your inventory, provided you have the components and the perks to unlock it.
Cyberpunk 2077 how to upgrade weapons comes down to one menu rather than a physical station — unlike Witcher 3's crafting benches, there is no bench to find here.
Where to do it
Open your Inventory, select a weapon and choose Upgrade. It works anywhere outside combat, on foot or in a vehicle.
What it costs
Upgrades consume Crafting Components, which come in tiers from Common up to Legendary. You get them by disassembling gear you no longer want, looting the world, or buying them. Higher-tier components produce a better result, so saving rare ones for weapons you actually plan to keep is worth the discipline.
The perk ceiling
How high you can push a weapon's quality is gated by perks in the Technical Ability attribute tree. Without investment there, upgrading a weapon far past your current gear level simply is not available yet — the option appears once the relevant perk is unlocked, not before.
Iconic weapons
Iconic and Legendary weapons upgrade the same way, so a favourite unique pistol or blade does not need replacing as you level — it can be kept relevant for the whole run.
