Elden Ring Heretical Rise: How to Get In

Elden Ring Heretical Rise is a tower on the northern cliffs of the Mountaintops of the Giants that looks unreachable, because the way in is an invisible bridge. Find where it starts, reveal the path, cross it, and at the top you get Founding Rain of Stars, a forbidden sorcery. There is no boss.

Where Heretical Rise is

The tower stands on the northern cliffs of the Mountaintops of the Giants, looking out over the ravine that leads to the frozen lake in the north-east. You can see it long before you can reach it, which is exactly what confuses people.

How to get in: the invisible bridge

1. Rest at the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook Site of Grace.
2. Head north-east to the edge of the ravine.
3. Find the start of the invisible bridge. It winds across the ravine and climbs to a balcony on the tower.
4. Cross slowly, following the path you have revealed.

How to see the path

• Rainbow Stones. Throw them ahead of you. Where a stone lands and glows, the path is solid; where it drops, it is not.
• Arrows, or any projectile that sticks where it lands.
• Weapons with a ground effect, such as the Icerind Hatchet, whose skill shows where the ground is.
• Go at night. A faint mist marks the bridge, and it is much easier to see in the dark.

Take it one step at a time. The bridge turns, and a confident sprint is the fastest way into the ravine.

Inside the tower

• Two Avionette Soldiers guard the balcony entrance.
• A Marionette Soldier waits on the winding stairs.

None of them is difficult, but the balcony is narrow, so fight carefully rather than getting knocked off. Climb the stairs and take the lift to the upper chamber.

The reward: Founding Rain of Stars

The chest in the top chamber holds Founding Rain of Stars, described as "a forbidden, primeval sorcery". It summons a rain of stars from above that keeps falling on the area around you.

It is a strong option for sorcerers who want sustained area damage, especially against large bosses that stay in one place.

Why Heretical Rise is easy to miss

• No visible path. The bridge is invisible, and nothing in the game points you to it.
• Late-game region. The Mountaintops of the Giants come late in a normal playthrough.
• No boss. Players who explore mainly by following bosses never have a reason to go looking.
