Elden Ring Jellyfish Shield: Location and Why It Is Used

A light greatshield with a damage buff built in. Where to pick it up in Liurnia, what Contagious Fury actually does, and why so many builds carry it.
The Elden Ring Jellyfish Shield is a greatshield that many players never block with. They carry it for its skill, Contagious Fury, a cheap buff that raises all damage by 12.5% for 30 seconds. It lies on a broken wagon in Liurnia of the Lakes, just north of the Foot of the Four Belfries Site of Grace, and it is one of the lightest greatshields in the game.

Where to find the Jellyfish Shield
- Travel to the Foot of the Four Belfries Site of Grace in north-western Liurnia.
- Head directly north.
- Look for a broken wagon with a corpse beside it, surrounded by four jellyfish.
- Loot the corpse for the shield.
The jellyfish hit harder than they look and can poison you. Kill them from range or pull them one at a time before looting.
Contagious Fury
The skill costs just 9 FP and gives you 12.5% more damage for 30 seconds. The buff applies to all damage: melee, spells and incantations.
Two conditions:
- Keep the shield equipped. Switching it out ends the buff.
- Carry it in your left hand. That is where most players keep it, so the buff is one button press away while your main weapon stays in the right.
Why it is so popular
- Light for a greatshield. At 8.0 weight it ties with the Wooden Greatshield as the lightest greatshield in the game.
- A buff for any build. Because it raises all damage, it helps sorcerers, faith casters, dragon incantation builds and pure melee alike.
- Cheap and fast. 9 FP for 30 seconds is an easy habit to build before every boss fight.
- It still blocks. Despite being carried for the buff, it offers full physical blocking when you need it.
The description is misleading
The item text claims the shield gives absolutely no protection against piercing attacks. In practice it provides full physical blocking like other greatshields. Do not avoid it because of the description.
Limitations
- No Ashes of War. Contagious Fury is fixed.
- 20 Strength. Pure casters need to invest some Strength, because the requirement must be met to use the skill properly.
- Weight still matters. 8.0 is light for a greatshield but not for a caster close to their load limit.
