Hogwarts Legacy: is it multiplayer? No. It is a single-player game with no co-op, no competitive mode, no shared world and no online component of any kind. That was stated before launch and has not changed since.

What that means in practice

• You cannot visit a friend's Hogwarts or invite anyone into yours.
• The Room of Requirement you decorate is yours alone; nobody else can see it.
• There is no duelling against other players. The Crossed Wands duelling club is against NPCs.
• Quidditch is not playable at all, so the obvious multiplayer hook is absent twice over.
• Nothing requires an internet connection to play.

Why it was built that way

The game is structured around a single protagonist with a unique ability — you are the one student who can see ancient magic, and the plot depends on that being exceptional. A second player in the same world undercuts the premise, and the story-heavy, choice-driven design does not divide cleanly between two people.

Mods are not multiplayer

On PC, mods add plenty — cosmetics, spells, camera options — but there is no functioning multiplayer mod for Hogwarts Legacy. Projects have been announced over the years; none has produced a working, widely-used co-op mode. Treat anything advertising a multiplayer download with suspicion.

What about a sequel

A follow-up has been reported as in development at Avalanche, and multiplayer is one of the features people speculate about. Nothing about a co-op mode has been confirmed by Warner Bros. or Avalanche, so any claim that the sequel will have one is speculation rather than an announcement.
