Not every Overwatch 2 DPS hero plays the same game — hitscan, projectile and flanker kits all ask for different habits.

Overwatch 2 DPS covers the largest role in the game, and it splits cleanly into a few playstyles that ask for different skills entirely.

Hitscan

Instant-hit aim, no travel time to lead: Soldier: 76, Cassidy, Ashe, Widowmaker, Sojourn, Bastion.

Projectile

Aim has to lead the target: Hanzo, Junkrat, Pharah, Mei, Torbjörn, Symmetra, Echo.

Flankers

Built around mobility and picking off backline targets rather than trading head-on: Tracer, Genji, Sombra, Reaper, Venture.

Newest additions

Emre, Anran and Freja joined the DPS roster most recently, as part of the roster's ongoing expansion through 2025 and 2026.

Picking one

Hitscan rewards raw aim. Projectile rewards prediction and positioning around cover. Flankers reward game sense — knowing when a backline is actually exposed. Most players land on one category and stay there.
