Hogwarts Legacy Jackdaw's Rest: Full Quest Walkthrough

The main quest that hands you the Talent system, told through a ghost who wants his own body found.
Hogwarts Legacy Jackdaw's Rest is a main quest, sitting between Professor Hecat's Assignment 2 and Flying Class, and it is the one that unlocks the Talent system — so it is not optional and it is not one to leave until late.
Meeting Jackdaw
The quest starts at night in the Forbidden Forest, where Richard Jackdaw's ghost is waiting. He leads you toward his tomb; the path is thick with spiders, and Incendio is the answer — burning webs clears the route and burning spiders makes them detonate, which chains through a group nicely.
The birdbath
At the entrance you reach a birdbath. Jackdaw gives you a password to whisper to it, which opens the way through — and immediately triggers a goblin ambush. Deal with it before you drop down.
Inside the tomb
The interior is a proper dungeon rather than a corridor:
- Lock puzzles — three locks that each revert to their closed state a moment after being struck. Hit them in quick succession with basic casts so all three are open at once.
- Accio platforms — floating sections you pull into position to build a path.
- Moth doors — doors with empty moth slots that need a stray moth guided back with Lumos.
- Inferi — a new enemy type that shrugs off ordinary damage and needs fire.
The end of the quest
Past the bridge you find Jackdaw's remains guarded by Ancient Defenders. Clear them, take the Field Guide page from the body, and the quest sends you to the Map Chamber, where Percival Rackham's portrait explains Pensieves and ancient magic — and the Talent system opens up.
Recommended level
Around level 20 is comfortable. The Inferi and the Ancient Defenders are the difficulty spikes; if either is chewing through you, spend the talent points you are about to earn on fire and control spells before pushing further.
